Automatic Negative Thoughts and Positive Aspirational New Thoughts

This strategy is about reframing. Our brain tends to err on the side of negative thinking. It is an inbuilt survival mechanism, something we are all born with. However, these days it tends to keep running and does not serve its original purpose - keeping us safe from predators. Instead it tends to invade our thinking and play havoc with our mindset and resilience.  

 

ANTs is a recognition of the immediate negative thought that can enter our brain when faced with a challenge or s stressor. 

 

Have a look at the list and see if you identify any that often creep into your thought patterns. 

 

Now have a look at how you can interrupt that process with some PANTs. 

 

It takes time to do this, and practise. But after a while it does become more automatic.
