We all have 24 Character Strengths - each person has them to a different degree. There is great value in shifting our mindset to look for what works.
As a school community, West Hill is made up of lots of individuals who work together as a team. You are a dynamic group of people who are skilled at helping children thrive. As individuals and as a team we work best when we use our strengths throughout our day to day lives.
At the moment everyone is working alternatively and experiencing work, family, socialising in a completely different way. This can mean that we have to jump more hurdles than usual.
One way of switching your perspective or your approach to your daily tasks is to find out what your strengths are.
You can do this either by completing the VIA Survey - a free online survey - you need about 15mins to sit down and complete the survey. Or you can have a look at the list below. Scan over the list, you have all these strengths, but you will have some to a greater degree. What do you think are your top 10? What are your top 3?
Reflecting on these, can you think of a situation coming up where you could focus on a strength and use it to create a positive experience or a better interaction?
Sometimes it can be hard to spot the strengths in ourselves. We can be our harshest critics. However as the saying goes - "what you focus on grows" (Esther Hicks). So if you need a little push in the right direction, watch the clip from the 'Snoopy and Charlie Brown - The Peanuts Movie'.
